The ordinary members of the Federation are the National Societies
of Orthopaedic Surgery and Orthopaedic Traumatology from European
countries. Each member country can determine two Delegates who form
the General Assembly of EFORT.
The General Assembly meets each year on the occasion of the annual
EFORT congresses. The General Assembly decides in all matters
of the Federation unless such matters are transferred to the Executive
Board or to committees. The General Assembly is therefore the
highest authority within the Federation and ensures that the aims
of the Federation are implemented.
At the moment, the General Assembly consists of Delegates from
the 43 EFORT National Member Societies.
During the last General Assembly meeting in Copenhagen on 31 May
2011, the Delegates of the National Member Societies elected Dr.
Manuel Cassiano Neves, Portugal as EFORT’s new Vice President, Ass.
Prof. Dr. Per Kjaersgaard-Andersen, Denmark as the Secretary General,
and Dr. George Macheras, Greece as a new Member at Large. Prof.
Dr. Philippe Neyret, France was re-elected to a second term as Member
at Large for EFORT. Additionally, Prof. Dr. Pierre Hoffmeyer was
confirmed as new EFORT President. Prof. Hoffmeyer, Dr. Neves, Ass.
Prof. Kjaersgaard-Andersen, Dr. Macheras and Prof. Neyret will start
their terms of office on 1 January 2012 and will serve until 31
December 2013.
