Programme Scientifics Programme: New technologies are being brought to the market around the globe adding to the excitement that possibility of joint preservation in young patients is close at hand. The second ICRS sponsored Surgical Skills Course in Miami – Biscayne Bay, FL – USA will be held October 30 – Nov 1, 2006.

National and international faculty will update the participants on the status of new technologies throughout the world and their surgical applications. Importantly, between faculty lectures and live presentations sessions, participants will be will also be taught in a hands-on setting on cadaver specimens. The course will continue to alternate between didactic lectures and these hands-on laboratory skills sections.

As it is important to optimize the joint before or during cartilage repair, comorbities of malalignment, meniscal and ligamentous deficiency witll be addressed through sessions on osteotomy, meniscal transplantation and ligament surgery.

Programme bone-tec 2008 should bring together all research disciplines from lab to clinical application in humans. International research teams of preclinical and clinical medicine are called to present their latest results. Clinicians will have the opportunity of demonstrating their own experiences in using modern technologies. 

The scientific topics are as follows: scaffolds, matrices, drug release systems, cells and growth factors, animal models, bone regeneration, cartilage engineering and clinical applications. 

An interdisciplinary interchange of ideas, under integration of industry, provides the opportunity of advancing bone regeneration in vivo including cartilage, tendons and ligaments as therapy in humans. Junior scientists and students should be introduced to these subjects. A special students workshop will be hosted as well as a students poster presentation. Prizes will be given out to the 3 best student posters presented.
