EFORT Annual congress Málaga 2026: Submit your abstract!

EFORT invites orthopaedic and trauma professionals from Europe and around the world to participate in the 27th EFORT Annual Congress 2026 from Monday 04 to Wednesday 06 May 2026 in Málaga, Spain.

The main theme will be “Innovations and transdisciplinarity in the orthopaedic future” reflecting a future that is already the present for European orthopaedics and the National Societies represented by our Federation. This forward-looking approach is embedded in the involvement and training of young orthopaedic surgeons.

Together, we will shape our community platform to engage in meaningful discussions, share diverse perspectives, and critically assess the impact of technological advancements.

Make your research count by sharing it with the biggest O&T community gathering in the same place.

Submit your work until Friday 14 November 2026 and join us in Málaga!

This joint initiative from UEMS and EFORT in education result in a high-quality European Examination for Orthopaedics and Traumatology Surgeons in Europe and beyond.

The EBOT Exam consists in a two-part examination: a written exam held in the different examination centres in Europe and as proctored online exam and a presential oral exam.

As per 2025, EBOT proposes its oral examination in four different languages thanks to its close cooperation with the national orthopaedic societies.

EFORT has launched its part II oral exam series. The English Oral Exam took place in Madrid, Spain from 27 to 28 September 2025.

A huge congratulations to the 43 candidates who successfully passed the EBOT Oral Exam in Madrid! They have officially been awarded the prestigious title of Fellow of the European Board of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (FEBOT). This achievement is a true marker of excellence in our field.

We also extend our sincere gratitude to the over 40 EBOT examiners from across Europe whose dedication is vital to maintaining the high standards of this examination.

Next EBOT Oral exams will take place as following:

EFORT and UEMS wish all the best to candidates and continue to strive for the highest standard of education in Orthopaedics and Traumatology.

IMPACT OF MDR IN ORTHOPAEDICS

EFORT Survey: Assessing the Impact of MDR on Orthopaedic Implants

Since the EU Medical Device Regulation (MDR) came into effect in May 2021, its objective has been to enhance patient safety through stronger clinical evidence.

However, its implementation may have also led to the withdrawal of certain Class III orthopaedic implants from the market.

As the European umbrella organization for Orthopaedics and Traumatology, EFORT holds key positions within EU regulatory bodies, including the Medical Device Coordination Group (MDCG) at DG SANTE and the Expert Panels at EMA.

To ensure that the voice of the orthopaedic community is heard in these discussions, we are again conducting an MDR-related survey to assess the real-world impact of MDR on implant availability.

We invite you to participate in this important survey, which will take no more than 15 minutes to complete. Your insights will help us advocate for solutions that support both innovation and patient care.
