14th EFORT Congress 2013
Istanbul | 5-8 June 2013

Located in the center of the old world, Istanbul is famous for its historical monuments and scenic views. It is the only city in the world which spreads over two continents: Asia and Europe which are separated by a narrow strait – the Bosphorus. Istanbul is adorned with the masterpieces of Turkish art, the great mosques of the Sultans that crown the hills. The city presents an exquisite, majestic and serene silhouette from all directions. Even if you spend only a short time in Istanbul, you can see much of this great heritage. Although renowned for its mystery and history, Istanbul is also a rapidly modernising country with a prime location; one foot in Europe and one in the Middle East. Thus Istanbul retains its fascinating differences, and its contradictions: mosques coexist with churches, and remnants of the Roman Empire still stand alongside ancient Hittite and Neolithic sites. Its variety is one of Istanbul's greatest attractions: The ancient mosques, palaces, museums and bazaars reflect its diverse history. The thriving shopping area of Taksim buzzes with life and entertainment. And the serene beauty of the Istanbul strait, Princes' Islands and parks bring a touch of peace to the otherwise chaotic metropolis.

The congress venue, Istanbul Congress Center – ICC, is located near the city centre Taksim Square, one of the liveliest sections of the city with many historical, artistic and cultural sites and numerous 4 and 5-star hotels in walking distance. The Istanbul Congress Centre, features a 3500-person auditorium, more than 30 meeting rooms and over 16.000 square meters (172.222 ft2) of exhibition space.
