EFORT WEBINAR | MONDAY 26 JANUARY 2026 | 19:00 CET

KEEPING UP-TO-DATE ON ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE, LARGE-LANGUAGE MODELS AND EXOSKELETONS - DIGITAL ORTHOPAEDICS AND TRAUMATOLOGY SERIES

This EFORT Educational Webinar, chaired by Prof. Bernd GRIMM | Luxembourg Institute of Health, Dept. Precision Health, Luxembourg Prof. Benedikt BRAUN | BG Klinik Tübingen, University of Tübingen, Germany and lectures of Prof. G. OSTERHOFF (Germany), Prof. P. Diniz (Portugal/Belgium) and Prof. R. Bremm (Luxembourg) organised by the Basic Research Group of the EFORT Education Committee, will focus on relevant updates in the domain of digitalisation in orthopaedics and traumatology, a fast-evolving field with continuous educational needs.

The learning objectives of this webinar are:

  • Know about various clinically relevant uses cases of artificial intelligence (AI) in trauma care and orthopaedic surgery and the increasing body of clinical evidence available. This may support implementation of these and related AI use cases in clinical practice and further translational research towards bringing the benefits of AI to our patients.

  • Understand the increasing capacity of large-language-models (LLM’s) and the different performance of current models in the context of solving orthopaedic exam questions. This knowledge may change perceptions about the quality, validity, applications and limits of LLM’s as a tool for information, education or research in a clinical context.

  • Recognize the fast-evolving technologies around exoskeletons or wearable robots and its increasing use cases and potential in healthcare applications, particularly in orthopaedics. These insights may lead to generate new use cases, clinical adaptation, translational research and steering technological developments towards needs in O&T.

This Webinar is organised by EFORT independent of any commercial educational support.

THE EBOT EXAM CAMPAIGN 2026

This joint initiative from UEMS and EFORT in education result in a high-quality European Examination for Orthopaedics and Traumatology Surgeons in Europe and beyond.

The EBOT Exam consists in a two-part examination: a written exam held in the different examination centres in Europe and as proctored online exam and a presential oral exam.

The Interim Exam:
The Starting Point of the EBOT Exam Campaign 2026

The EBOT Exam 2026 Campaign has started!

The Interim Exam, organised since 2011, is the first free-of-charge O&T online assessment organised for European residents.

Thanks to a wide network of supervising hospitals in Europe, this exam enables candidates to prepare themselves to the EBOT Exam Part I

On 18 and 19 February 2026, over 1400 candidates from 20 countries in Europe took the exam under the direct supervision of their teaching hospital.

During three hours, candidates answered 100 MCQs covering five Orthopaedics and Traumatology domains of the EBOT exam: Basic Science, Upper Limb, Lower Limb, Paediatrics and Spine.

Next step for candidates is to register to the EBOT Exam Part I, the Written Examination, that will take place on Tuesday 02 June 2026.

We need your clinical expertise for a study commissioned by HADEA and DG SANTE regarding the impact of proposed "grandfathering provisions" for orphan medical devices. This is a critical opportunity to ensure that niche and life-saving orthopaedic tools remain available on the market.

Why take 20 minutes to respond?

  • Address Shortages: Highlight devices at risk of withdrawal or discontinuation.
  • Clinical Insight: Share your experience on safety and available alternatives.
  • Influence Policy: Ensure EU regulations reflect the real-world challenges of our specialty.

Target: Manufacturers, clinicians, and O&T professionals.

Deadline: Tuesday, 24 February 2026.
