24th EFORT Annual Congress

Have you had a chance yet to look into the programme of this year’s EFORT Annual congress?

Listen to the round up commented by Prof. Søren Overgaard, Science Committee Chair. Focus is given to key features such the scientific sessions, the Honorary Lectures and the newly created EFORT Marketplace.

Scientific Chair Søren Overgaard about the EFORT Annual Congress 2023 Scientific Programme

EFORT is the only congress where one has the whole variety of what O&T has to offer at hand.

On topics such as AI, the specialty needs to learn on how to use it and assess its benefits and impacts. Overgaard’s experience shows for example that delayed diagnosis can be prevented.

The Honorary Lectures propose principles on mentorship and transfer of knowledge: Having role models gives the opportunity to a becoming and practicing surgeon to prepare her/his future better.

With different understandings of addressing quality within research, the Research Café is undeniably a highlight activity of the EFORT Marketplace.

If you decide to participate in one of the sessions and you even have perhaps an ongoing study, you will get closer to what it takes to do good research.

What should not be missed is to come to meet colleagues and friends in Vienna, says Overgaard. The programme is designed in such a way that it is a truly interactive learning experience which ultimately is not only good for you as a participant but perhaps even more importantly for your patients.

EFORT Scientific Awards 2023

The aim of the EFORT Scientific Awards is to recognise outstanding research and achievements in the field of orthopaedics and traumatology, and to encourage and promote further advances in these fields. These awards are given to individuals who have made significant contributions to the advancement of knowledge and practice in the field of musculoskeletal health, and whose work has had a significant impact.

The awards are intended to promote collaboration and innovation.

The EFORT Scientific Awards (Jacques Duparc and Free Papers Awards) will be presented during the Opening Ceremony and awardees are also presented in EFORT's publications, including the website, newsletters, and scientific journals.

Please, join us in congratulating this year’s winners!

Industry Collaborative Sessions

Collaboration between the medtech industry and the orthopaedic and traumatology community helps drive innovation, improves patient outcomes, and advances in the field of musculoskeletal health.

Five sessions embedded in the Scientific Programme will be presented as a collaborative concept between EFORT and selected companies.

Continuing education, regulatory science and research projects have set the stage to design this series of specific sessions.

We would like to thank all those companies who contribute to make this new initiative a success and who have submitted proposals.

Out of the 20 submissions received this year’s programme will feature the following presentations:

In alignment with CME regulations the programme content is divided into scientific sessions with no industry participation versus a more collaborative approach where science complemented by industry content provides an opportunity that helps to ensure that new products are widely available and accessible to patients.
