Complex Elbow Fractures Management
This EFORT Educational Webinar, chaired by Prof. Thierry BÉGUÉ | Service de Chirurgie Orthopédique, Traumatologique et Réparatrice | Hôpital Antoine Béclère | Université Paris-Saclay | Paris-Clamart, France, and with lectures from Prof. P. BIBERTHALER (Germany), Prof. B. LEFEBVRE (Belgium) and Prof. A. MAZZOLA (Italy), is organised by the Trauma Education Group of the EFORT Education Committee, and will focus on the management of complex elbow fracture.
The elbow remains one of the most "unforgiving" joints in the human body, where the margin between functional recovery and permanent stiffness is razor-thin. This webinar provides a comprehensive deep dive into the management of high-complexity elbow trauma, ranging from acute injury patterns to the management of late complications.
The learning objectives of this webinar are:
- Identify and Classify complex Monteggia variants in adults to ensure appropriate restoration of the proximal ulna and radiocapitellar joint.
- Formulate a strategic pathway for the management of elbow fracture-dislocations, prioritizing the sequence of stabilization (bones vs. ligaments).
- Evaluate techniques for malunion correction in the distal humerus, including the use of 3D planning and stable internal fixation.
- Analyse clinical outcomes and common complications of elbow trauma to optimize post-operative rehabilitation and minimize joint contracture.
- Critically assess alternative surgical approaches through the presentation of complex clinical cases and peer-to-peer discussion.
This Webinar is organised by EFORT independent of any commercial educational support.
