24th EFORT Annual Congress

EFORT's call for National Society research and networking:

the Best National Papers Awards

The Best National Posters Session highlights the most outstanding papers from each National Member Society, with the goal of presenting the most up-to-date and impactful research to orthopaedics and traumatology surgeons.

This initiative seeks to accomplish the following objectives: engaging National Member Societies in the development of scientific content for the EFORT congress, encouraging National Member Societies to conduct high-quality research, and fostering networking opportunities among representatives from all National Member Societies.

Once again, the EFORT Best National Papers Session was held on the last day of the congress. As a refresher, all accepted Best National Papers were exhibited as wallpaper posters.

During designated poster walks, authors from each Best National Paper were allotted 5 minutes to discuss their findings with two moderators.

The highest scoring presentations were selected for oral sessions on Friday 26 May, which culminated in the announcement of the winners.

This year’s winners are: 1st place ex aequo for

Denmark • Andreas Kiilerich Andresen ››› Randomized Controlled Trial Of Instrumented Versus Uninstrumented Posterolateral Fusion For Lumbar Spondylolisthesis

France • Pierre Ogeron ››› Intra-Operative Waste Generation In Orthopedic Surgery: Quantitative Analysis Of 14 Standard Procedures

3rd place for Spain • María Galán Olleros ››› Is There A Relationship Between The Functional Level Of Juvenile And Adolescent Patients With Down Syndrome And Hip Dysplasia?

We extend our appreciation to all the candidates who participated in the Best National Paper initiative at Vienna 2023.

CORE-MD

Take the survey on the EMA Guideline on registry-based studies

This survey aims to assess stakeholders’ awareness about the Guideline on registry-based studies, to identify specific topics requiring clarification, and to understand training needs.

The Guideline was endorsed by the Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) and published on the European Medicines Agency (EMA) website in October 2021 following two extensive public consultations.

Based on the survey results, EMA will develop specific communication and training materials tailored to the different stakeholder groups as needed, in order to ensure appropriate awareness and application of the Guideline.

We will appreciate your feedback by 15 June close of business.

The CORE-MD Project aims to recommend an appropriate balance between clinical efficacy, safety, and innovation for high-risk medical devices.
