The first-ever full-day session on "Advances in Total Hip and Total Knee Replacement" will be held in Istanbul. It will feature the latest approaches to reconstruction of the hip and knee in adults. EFORT, the European Hip Society (EHS) and the European Knee Association (EKA) have appointed a panel of recognised European experts with a great breadth and depth of experience in total hip and knee replacement. The members of the panel will pass on their knowledge of a total of 24 key issues in day-to-day practice in both primary and revision surgery. Each of the 24 presentations will take 15 minutes, with a five-minute open-floor discussion. The aim of the course is to provide younger joint replacement specialists and more experienced senior consultants alike with an update on the latest in techniques and treatments.

The Scientific Committee very much hopes that this new course will prove to be an attractive event, and asks participants to prepare for a lively exchange with the experts during the open discussions.

Topics to be covered in the course are:

  • Selection of fixation type
  • Selection of bearings
  • Benefits and drawbacks of different approaches to the joint
  • Treatment of deformities when inserting implants
  • Diagnostics and treatment of deep infections
  • Treatment of periprosthetic fractures
  • Removal of well-fixed implants
  • Presentation of complicated primary and revision cases

This full-day session is taking place on Friday the 7th of June from 08:30 to 18:00.
