At the 28th EFORT Annual Congress, taking place from 19 to 21 May 2027 in Athens, Greece, attendees will experience an exciting new interactive highlight: EFORT Digital Games.
As orthopaedic and traumatology care continues to evolve through technological innovation, the way we engage, train, and benchmark surgical skills must advance alongside it. Designed to complement our core scientific program, this initiative brings virtual reality (VR) procedural challenges directly into the exhibition arena. Far from being a mere showcase of technology, the EFORT Digital Games represent an interactive competition designed to bring together Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeons under the share banner of surgical excellence and friendly rivalry in a virtual operating room.
Crucially, while technology providers and industry partners enable this cutting-edge setup, the initiative remains entirely EFORT-governed. EFORT retains full oversight of the educational framework, competition rules, scoring principles, and public moderation to ensure high academic and clinical rigor.
By embedding this pilot directly within the heart of the congress space, we are opening new pathways for participant engagement, elevating the exhibition experience, and spotlighting the future of surgical education.
