EFORT joins MedTechLabel Project Partners in Athens
From past 05 to 07 October 2026, Prof. Dr. Per Kjaersgaard-Andersen, Chair of European Affairs EFORT Committee, and Anouck Barba, EFORT European Policy Officer, represented the EFORT at the MedTechLabel project consortium meeting in the historic city of Athens in Greece.
Funded by the Innovative Health Initiative Joint Undertaking (IHI JU), the MedTechLabel project aims to develop and verify the MedTechLabel Framework—a universal digital labelling system designed for medical devices (MDs) across all categories and classes, including in vitro diagnostic devices (IVDs).
EFORT plays a vital, active role in the project as a Task Leader within Work Package 1. During the Athens gathering, the EFORT delegation presented the latest progress made regarding the development of comprehensive Use Scenarios. They also introduced a dedicated template created to gather valuable input and contributions from stakeholders across diverse medical and technical areas of expertise.
Looking ahead, EFORT remains fully committed to driving the next stages of the project forward, ensuring that the perspective of orthopaedic and traumatology specialists remains central to the future of medical device digital labelling in Europe.
